Walkabout Tales

I have been going walkabout in nature for many years....and I realized something in the process of walking in the wonder and observation of  nature was bringing story ideas to me.  I have been researching the process of meditative walking to conjure the muse for several years.  I have been teaching teachers, parents, and writers how to walk in nature with intention, and to create childrens stories in the process.  I will be offering a 5-day professional development course on this wonderful creative and renewing activity this June 2010.  Of course I can't imagine a story told without something visual about it, so we will also create story props and puppets to make our stories a visual treat as well as a story well told.  I know there are many of  you out there who love creating your own stories.  This week is for you as well as total beginners.  ...

Color and Light Puppetry – with photos

I just finished a professional development 5 day course on Color and Light Puppet Theater, illuminated color shadow theater, where the eye and soul experience color landscapes and characters in movement and gesture.  This therapeutic artistic approach opens the soul to the healing effects of color story in a delightful and meaningful way.  We  explored this medium in a practical and purposeful way, looking at the significance of color  mood for the human soul, and then we created story worlds of color in motion! The goal was to create a color landscape with layers of tissue paper colors to give depth and interest, one where the eye could flow into the color world.  Characters were then made to move in the color world of a back lighted shadow puppet theater and tell a tale.  Here are just a few of the photos from the week.... remember that these are fixed photos, ...
