THE ART OF THE ROD PUPPET – THE BOY ARCHETYPE –
The Rod Puppet is a remarkable kind of puppet, who can also become the storyteller! Children connect to this puppet style more than any other. I call it the ‘heart’ puppet because of it’s fine and sensitive gesture and ensouling possibilities. We will create a ‘boy’ character, and discuss what it means to bring to life this archetype, and how healing it is for our times. We will also work of how to manipulate the puppet so that it will truly come to life for the children.
workshop cost: $145 plus $15 materials.
Feb.22 – 9-4
THE ARCHETYPE OF THE WORKER CHARACTER IN STORY
In this one day workshop, we will explore the significance of the Worker characters in story, song, and verse. They have a strong connection to the cosmic rhythms in their movements and in their purposeful activity. Their gesture ‘gifts’ the children an awareness of moral will. The value of these often overlooked characters is powerful and of great importance to the children. We will create fabulous worker puppets and learn the rhythms of their enlivening.
workshop cost – $90 plus $15 material fee.
Feb. 23 9-4
CREATING FAIRY TALE TAPESTRIES
In this workshop we will immerse in the art of tapestry needlefelting to create a magical picture of a scene from a favorite story, fairy tale, nursery rhyme or song. Learn the steps in building up a picture worthy of hanging on a child’s wall, or in a classroom. All levels are welcome to join us to work with color and form and watching a world unfold with the flicks of a felting needle!
workshop cost $90 plus $15 materials.
