When my children were little we would walk in the lush forests of
British Columbia looking for hollow stump houses and leave gifts for
the little forest creatures that would find their winter homes there.
Later I created Shelter Stories for puppetry and have loved
sharing the wonder of a mouse, a hedgehog, or even a little fox that
created a cozy home for themselves in nature's sturdy stumps, especially
if there was a little window to look out at the world from.
